WelcomHeritage Panjim Inn is the ancestral home of Ajit Sukhija, his son Jack Ajit Sukhija and daughter Gitanjali Sukhija. The house was built around 1880 by Francis Assis’s de Silviera Ajit Sukhija’s maternal great grandfather. Father and Son together with Ajit’s daughter, Dr.Gitanjali are actively involved in the management and operation of the property and the Gallery Gitanjali, as is Ajit’s spouse Dr.Maria Lilia Sequeira.
The Family is quite passionate about Heritage and Conservation besides Art and Culture.
The nearest Beach is at Miramar 3 kms away and the Northern Beaches are 10km away. It is a fine location to explore Goa especially the World Heritage Site of Old Goa which is 9km from Panaji, where the mortal remains of Goa’s Patron Saint, Francis Xavier are buried.
Dr.Lilia Sequeira is the daughter of the Late Dr.Jack de Sequeira known in Goan Folklore as the Father of the Opinion Poll and is responsible for Goa’s Independent Status. A Statue of Dr.Jack De Sequeira is Prominently placed at the Dona Paula Junction, en route to Raj Bhawan. The Avenue from Miramar Circle to Dona Paula is named Dr.Jack De Sequeira Marg.
The Welcomheritage Panjim Inn is Goa’s First and only Heritage Hotel to be Classified by the Government of India’s Heritage Classification Committee. This High powered Committee chaired by the Secretary Tourism Government of India also classifies 5 star Hotels in India.

WelcomHeritage Panjim Inn has 24 well-appointed Heritage rooms complete with 4 Poster Antique Beds, period Almirahs, Love Seats and Carved Pelmets adorn doors and windows. Paintings from the Gallery Gitanjali are displayed on the walls giving the property charm and character. Old Artifacts of China from Europe and Macau and wooden pillars from Sindhudurgh are prominently displayed, Old wooden artifacts, Dowry Chests, Rosewood Sofas , Glassware and China Crockery. There are period objects of wood from the Konkan, Wooden Palkis, Cabinets and other Antique pieces converting The WelcomHeritage Panjim Inn into a virtual Museum.
All rooms are air conditioned, have ensuite baths and hot water from roof top Solar Panels making the Property Environment Friendly. The décor is a fine blend of old and new.
At The Verandah Restaurant overlooking the 31st January Road one can feast on Fine Goan and Continental Food, Sip a feni or a Lemoncello and watch the Town’s people go about their daily chores.At the entrance there is a wooden Gazebo made of Sindhudurg Pillars.
WELCOMHERITAGE PANJIM PEOPLES
The Panjim Peoples is the oldest of the Three Edifices, having been built around 1840. It has the Distinction of being Goa’s First English Medium High School. Dr. Lilia Sequeira, our Partner also studied out there some 60 years ago.
As part of the renovation, the Ground Floor was converted into a Hall housing Gallery Gitanjali and the Conference Room and the First Floor has Four sumptuous bedrooms. The Gallery Gitanjali displays and sells Fine Art while the bedrooms are let out as boutique accommodation. One of the rooms was occupied by the Maharaja of Jodhpur, President of the Indian Heritage Hotels Association in the course of our Executive Committee Meeting in Goa.
WELCOMHERITAGE PANJIM POUSADA
The Welcomheritage Panjim Pousada once owned by the Ghanekhar Family is the rare Hindu Home in this predominantly Catholic Latin Quarter of Fontainhas. It has a Courtyard with a Central Tulus where once the ladies of the house performed Aarti. An age old water harvesting system directs rain water to the well. The 9 well furnished bedrooms have Antique Furniture and all modern Amenities.
